While I havent been working with or riding the horses much, I have been putting them to work. Ariel is getting the much-deserved time eating the tallest green grass and pushing Buena around at her whim. Much to my surprise shes not suffering any ill effects. Thats makes me feel pretty darn good. I really want these final weeks to be enjoyable ones for her.

Beautiful pics, love the blog I saw you on the fugly site.
Gorgeous pictures. I am sorry you are having to go through all of this with your mare. Off topic but the entire cherry orchard is now netted top and sides and the birds are safe!!!
Your pasture looks gorgeous! Those are some lucky mares :-)
sidetracked, nice to "meet" you. Come back often. ;)
Aw, that Amanda, you are too sweet. I am trying to enjoy the good parts the next few weeks. I need to make that appointment soon and I keep putting it off. Glad to hear you aren't living in a warzone this year!
Thanks Cat. I "advance graze" them by moving the pigtail step-ins about 10 feet every few hours. We save most of our acreage for hay, so they don't get to just trample all of it down, just small areas at a time. Once the hay is done, the horses get to run on pretty close to the full area. They are getting fat an SASSY. I haven't fed hay in over a month!
Oh Liz, I am so sorry. Words cannot be placed on such a friendship as you have had with Ariel through the years, and I know this will be one of life's greatest challenges for you.
Know that she has had an incrediblly blessed life with you and she will be forever in the memory of you and many others.
When is the appointment? I am so sad....
XOXO
