The Master Horseman has passed away.
He was one of the best things to happen to horses and horsemanship. And I am forever grateful that I had a chance to honor the man by riding with/for him in a private clinic in 2006.
The horse world is a better place because of Ray. He will be greatly missed.

Oh, I didn't know. When and How? I wish I could have met him and gotten to know him. I have his book. The first time I read it, I didn't get it AT ALL and I was disappointed that it was written so cryptically!
But after I learned some natural horsemanship and started learning to read horses, I read his book again and I understood completely what he was saying and it was amazing. It was like, we aren't meant to understand it until we're ready and I so loved that about the book. Now I hear other say say, they've read it and were disappointed because they didn't get it and I just chuckle to myself and tell them, not to give up. They will get it when they are ready. They have no idea what I'm talking about.

Oh, how sad! You are SO lucky to have ridden with him! I heard he is just amazing. Wow. I hope to ride in a Buck clinic someday...we'll see if I ever get that far.
Oh my...first John Sharp and now Ray Hunt...these men have laid the groundwork for so many to follow...another sad day~~
How sad. And how great that so much of his knowledge is safely recorded and stored and used.

Thank you for your post - I never had the chance to ride with Ray, but have ridden with Mark Rashid who is of the same line of thought as Ray, and always spoke highly of him. You were very fortunate to have ridden with him.
So sorry to hear of Ray's passing! The horse world was better for having him involved!
I somehow missed that he passed. I never saw him in person but as have many others certainly benefited from his teachings.
